Mark Cliff
Managing Director
Mark Cliff joined Fortis Insurance Limited as the Managing Director on 13th October 2008, building on the successful and award winning general insurance business in the UK and focusing on optimising its position in the market as a leading provider of customer focused insurance solutions. Mark is responsible for leading the development of Fortis' core competencies in underwriting and claims management across the Gloucester and Eastleigh offices, with a continued committment to distributing via Fortis' extensive broker network, intermediaries and affinity partners.
Mark joined from AXA Insurance, where he held the position of Markets, Managing Director, with responsibility for all distribution channels, commercial branch operations, as well as customer service and marketing.
Mark has a very strong track record within the Insurance industry with previous senior management roles at Royal and SunAlliance, and Royal Insurance. He has a wealth of knowledge of our market as well as active contribution to the industry, through the Association of British Insurers and was chairman of Polaris, and a member of the Motor Insurance Bureau board.
Adam Clarke
Underwriting Director
Adam joined Fortis Insurance in September 2007 from RBS Insurance. As Commercial Director for Direct Line, Churchill and Privilege he was responsible for the Home, Pet and Travel accounts, prior to which he was Finance Director for Churchill. As Underwriting Director for Fortis' General Insurance arm, Adam is responsible for increasing the depth and breadth of Fortis' Personal and Commercial Lines Insurance proposition aligned to Fortis' strategy for growth in the UK.
Chris Dobson
Distribution & Development Director
Chris Dobson joined Fortis on 15 March 2004 having worked for Royal and Sun Alliance for 24 years in various Commercial and Personal Lines roles. He is based in Eastleigh at the Fortis Head Office, though lives in Yorkshire with his wife and daughter and is a regular customer of Flyebe.
His prime responsibilities as Distribution and Development Director are to lead the business development and distribution strategy across all product classes, influencing the overall direction and position of Fortis in the UK insurance market. With 30 years in the industry he has seen a market that continues to reinvent itself, providing opportunity for those businesses who are willing to adapt and embrace change to remain successful in their chosen market segments.
Rob Smale
Claims and Operations Director
Rob joined Fortis Insurance in 2003 having previously worked in a variety of industries and roles. Rob's qualifications include both a degree in engineering and an MBA and it is his engineering background that has helped inform a set of operating principles known as the Fortis Claims Way. Embracing 'Lean Service' techniques these principles have won plaudits from customers, suppliers and peers in the industry.
Lyn Nicholls
HR Director
Lyn joined Fortis in 2003 from IAS, where she had previously been HR Director. Prior to this, Lyn worked for 14 years at AA and Centrica in a variety of HR management roles.
Lyn is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Helen Pickford
Finance Director
Helen brings to Fortis a wealth of experience spanning almost 15 years in the insurance industry. She joins us from Royal Sun & Alliance Insurance Group plc where she was Finance Director responsible for the UK Retail and Affinitiy businesses, working as a key member of the executive team on all business aspects. Prior to this Helen was Group Head of Investor Relations, managing a significant improvement in both the Groups share price and reputation.
Jeff Grosvenor
IT Director
Jeff joined Fortis Insurance in 2002 and has 30 years experience in IT predominantly in the insurance sector. Before joining Fortis, Jeff was Operations Manager of Applications Management for ICL, a major IT services company. Prior to this Jeff was employed by the AA as General Manager, responsible for the systems development strategy and delivery.
