How do I make a claim?

I have bought a Fortis policy and I am not happy with it, what can I do?
If the insurance policy does not meet your needs your insurance agent will refund your premium so long as you return your policy and your certificate/schedule to them within 14 days of receiving the documents.

Motor


I have bought a Fortis Motor policy and I am not happy with it, what can I do?
If the insurance policy does not meet your needs you have 14 days from the date you receive the policy to cancel the cover. You must return the certificate of Motor insurance to your insurance agent. A charge of 10% of the annual premium will be made for the time you have been on cover.


How long can a temporary additional driver be added for?
The total period of cover in any period of insurance must not exceed 3 months.


What are Fortis’ daily temporary additional driver charges?

Rates are exclusive of IPT. Note that the minimum charge is £10 plus IPT


What is the maximum vehicle value?
£35,000 for fully comprehensive insurance and £4,000 for third party fire and theft.


Household

Can you process a change of address over the phone?
No. A new Proposal Form must be completed and returned to our Gloucester office.


Will you insure properties that are tenanted?
We cannot offer buildings cover but we can offer contents cover for properties that are rented either privately or via the local authority, providing the proposer is aged over 60 years of age.


Is the contents cover new for old?
Yes.


Is the Buildings sum insured index linked?
All sum insured products are index linked, our bedroom rated policies are not index linked.


Will you insure a property that has previously suffered subsidence?
We cannot offer Buildings cover but we will offer Contents cover but will exclude the cost of alternative cover in the event of future subsidence claims.


I need to obtain proof that cover is in place for a mortgage company, what do I do?
Fax a copy of the Proposal Form and request to our Gloucester Office on fax number 01452 626 001.
