Fortis (Insurance, UK) has announced the appointment of Ron Munro as Underwriting Development Manager, reporting to Fortis' Director of Underwriting, Adam Clarke. Ron will be responsible for developing new products to further enhance and build on Fortis' award winning portfolio of personal and commercial lines motor insurance.
On joining Fortis earlier this year Ron became a non-executive director on the Thatcham Board, the industry funded association working to carry out research targeted at containing or reducing the cost of motor insurance claims, whilst maintaining safety standards. In this role, Ron is expected to challenge and contribute to the strategy development, scrutinise management performance, ensure integrity of financial information and make certain there are robust financial controls and risk management systems.
Ron brings a wealth of experience spanning more than 27 years in the insurance industry. He joins from Zurich Insurance Company where he was Motor Manager, UKGI underwriting, a position that he has for the last six years. Ron was responsible for the technical governance across the UKGI business units and led debates on issues impacting motor and underwriting accounts.
Ron Munro comments: "The insurance industry is facing a number of challenges at the moment and I am delighted to be joining such a dynamic team at this time. Fortis is recognised as delivering innovative products that are supported by an extremely high standard of customer service, and is well respected in the industry for its ongoing ability and commitment to underwriting for profit."
Director of Underwriting, Adam Clarke adds: " Ron has a vast knowledge of the insurance industry that will further develop Fortis' commercial repertoire. Ron's previous experience dealing with issues affecting the motor industry will enhance our offering to partners and brokers, and in turn their customers. Ron's position within the company and presence on the Thatcham board puts Fortis in a great position for the continuous development of our commercial strategy."
