The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has today (28th April) advised against all but essential travel to Mexico. Please visit the FCO website at http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travelling-and-living-overseas/travel-advice-by-country/north-central-america/mexico/ for more information.

Customers with travel booked to Mexico should take the following actions:

1. In the first instance contact your airline or tour operator in order to seek reimbursement.

2. In the event that you are unable to recover your travel costs from your airline or tour operator and you have a Fortis Travel policy through a broker, you may submit a cancellation claim to Fortis for consideration. Please refer to your policy booklet for the terms and conditions of cancellation cover.

Travellers already in Mexico and looking to return home early should contact their travel agent, tour operator or airline to enquire about the availability of an early return home.

The above will apply to any country where the Foreign & Commonwealth Office offers the same advice to avoid all but essential travel.

Please be advised that in line with our policy wording, there is no cover for the cancellation or curtailment arising from disinclination to travel.
